Installation Considerations
Make sure your substrate layer is clean, stable and free of dirt, stains and solvents. Cement or cement board are preferred.
Do not install glass tiles directly over plywood or drywall.
Apply a crack suppression membrane under tiles for added protection against shifting.
For glass wall tile, leave a 1/4 inch gap between the perimeter tile and the wall.
For the best bond strength for glass tiles use white M-Flex flexible latex mortar. Glass being hard to adhere to needs a premium flexible latex mortar to insure proper bond strength.
Add a very thin coating of mortar to the back of the tiles, using the flat edge of a trowel. This will ensure a good bond, and will prevent notch marks or bubbles from showing through the tile.
Clean up any excess mortar that has squeezed up between the tiles with a nylon brush cloth or damp sponge.
Make sure tiles are dry and the mortar has cured at least 24 prior to grouting.
Make diagonal and back-and-forth movement with a grout float to work grout in. You can also use the float to scrape off excess.
After installation, remove any grout film or haze using a soft cloth and mild detergent solution.
