Installation Considerations
Each and every tile should have 100% contact with the mortar and sub-floor especially on all corners and edges.
When installing slate tiles 12" x 12" or larger on floors it is critical that sub-floors are flat, smooth and level.
Natural slate must be sealed to retain its beautiful appearance. Because of its highly textured surface, it is recommended to seal slate prior to grouting to prevent the entrapment of cement particles on the surface of the tile.
