Once used by the Romans to build the largest building in the world, the Colosseum in Rome, travertine has a rich history as a building material. It is a sedimentary stone formed by hot springs that give it distinctive surface structure. It can be filled and polished smooth like marble or left in its natural state. Pure travertine is white, but it is often found in varying shades or tones from soft yellow golds to deep browns. It is most commonly used as a tile for floors or walls, but it is often found in outside architecture as the walls in European castles and churches. Its popularity is timeless and Floor & Decor makes this great natural stone affordable for everyone. The neutral color range of travertine makes it ideal for different design ideas allowing you to mix and match with other colors used in your home.

Care
Due to the porous nature of travertine, it needs to be sealed for indoor use to help prevent staining from spills. Do not use acidic cleaners. Sweep and mop. Blot up spills immediately. Natural stone should be re-sealed on a regular basis, based on type of sealant used.
